DISurbia, THE FORGOTTEN SKIN

-

This project by de Eduardo Valderrey (born in Barcelona in 1963) is made up of various photo-sculptures and a video installation. These works of art make reference to buildings based on the relationship between identity, memory and the process of deindustrialisation of the old mining facilities in the mountains in the eastern part of the province of Leon. There, the Sabero, Sahelices, Olleros, Sotillos and Vegamediana valleys make up the large backbone of a disorderly group of abandoned industrial installations. They bear witness to an irreversible process of abandonment of Spain’s northern coalmines, due to the progressive restructuring of the sector.
