ERRATA

Our gallery's relationship with Miguel Ángel Barba (Ciudad Real, 1976) began in the spring of 2005. Since then, we have witnessed his evolution as a painter through six individual exhibitions, to which we can add his repeated participation in different proposals for art fairs and other group projects.

After several years of a slower and calmer rhythm of production, in which discipline and an almost obsessive search for order and perfection were determining factors in his creations, we now verify through the selection of works in ERRATA that in the last two years Miguel Ángel Barba has opted for a much more abundant, rapid and spontaneous production. Now the “errors” are welcomed, becoming another component of the painting, in contrast to a not-so-distant past when this painter from La Mancha, with great obstinacy, spent months correcting and re-correcting small imperfections that were practically imperceptible to the viewer.

Now he finally seems to understand that these make each work unique, giving rise to a magnificent selection of unframed canvases where, using coloured pencils, crayons and graphite over a first layer of primer, he composes different series with motifs such as crosses, lines, grids and other compositions.

The most colourful selection of these works has been shared with the Galeria Nueveochenta in Bogotá, which, from April 25th to May 31st, holds MEDITACIONES PICTÓRICAS  ("PICTORIAL MEDITATIONS"), an exhibition twinned with ERRATA, whose selection, by contrast, opts for a predominance of black and white.
