FEW THINGS

Javier Calleja is presenting an exhibition at our gallery entitled "A few things" and it is precisely very few things that he is putting on show; a carefully chosen selection of only six small paintings. Calleja has never hidden the sources of his artistic inspiration, and in his works we very often see intentional nods to the artists that are most important to him such as Magritte, Guston, Nara or Hernández Pijuan. These are just some of the artists that Javier lives and breathes and even steals from, in an exercise of almost undue appropriation. However, he never once loses any of his own definite character and style.
