Between 1536 and 1807, millions of human beings were forcefully taken from their African villages and sold as slaves on the Island of Gorée. These are the inhabitants of the island today… These gazes do not just speak of their own history, but also of the present-day situation, in which 27 million men, women and children live and work in the sex industry or as soldiers. These gazes speak to us of the slaves of the 21st century.
