Marta Barrenechea

This is Marta Barrenechea's second solo exhibition at our gallery. This time round her works are more finite, concrete and defined. She uses a few small shapes that she repeats; and sometimes with great care and effort she embroiders the centre of the canvas, to then spread out from the middle, painting concentrically, though not geometrically. The painting rotates around that central little knot or bow. And finally when she reaches the edges of the painting she ‘frames’ it by painting a trompe-l'œil-like wooden strip around the canvas.
