Luis Vioque
More than twenty years have gone by since 1989 when Luis Vioque first became interested in photography. Luis Vioque taught himself what he knows about photography, so much so that in September 2012 at the ONCE Foundation’s Biennale of Contemporary Art he had a lengthy conversation with Queen Sofia of Spain about the techniques of photography and its evolution to digital methods. The viewer loses himself in Vioque’s characteristic solitary, peaceful, black and white landscapes. The pictures transport the viewer to the Irish countryside, to a beach in Portugal, or to the sand dunes in Maspalomas that evoke the nearby desert…
