Visit the solo show of french artist Claude Viallat at the Gallery
If you haven't yet visited our current solo show dedicated to painter Claude Viallat at the gallery, there’s still time! You can enjoy the exhibition until April 30th.
This is our second solo exhibition dedicated to Claude Viallat (Nîmes, 1936), one of the most influential figures in contemporary French art. This show reaffirms our commitment to his work, after having carried out several notable projects in recent years, including the first solo presentation at ARCO17, with a carefully selected collection of his works, and the monumental piece displayed at ARCO19, among many others, solidifying his presence in the artistic landscape of our country.
The exhibition comes at a key moment, following the recent retrospective Et pourtant si… dedicated to him just over a year ago at the Carré d'Art in Nîmes, his hometown. This exhibition was one of the most significant dedicated to the painter, recognizing both his prolific career and his fundamental contribution to contemporary art.
From his studio in Nîmes, where he has developed most of his career, Viallat has created an unmistakable pictorial language based on the repetition of the same form. For decades, he has explored endless variations of colors and textures through constant experimentation with all kinds of textile supports, achieving truly surprising results. In short, his works challenge tradition while inviting us to return to the purely essential, standing as a visual testimony of painting itself.
The digital catalog of the exhibition is also available on ISSUU.
